Parenting Tips: Playground Safety
The long days of summer are finally here! Planning what activities to do – maybe the local YMCA has a summer camp that you can sign your kids up or just planning odd days out swimming, beach days, local parks and perhaps play dates with friends. While you make think of dangers at the beach, it is important to remember safety tips at the local playground too.

- Adult supervision.
- Appropriate playground surfaces – appropriate shock absorbing surface.
- Playground designs.- there should be 3 different age appropriate playgrounds- infants and toddlers under 2, 2- to 5-year-olds (preschoolers), and 5- to 12-year-olds (school-age kids).
- Maintenance and Inspections.
- Teaching kids to “play nicely”.
Play is an important part of kids’ physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development. Following these safety tips will help your kids play as safely as possible.
