Victoria Chart Company - 5 Ways of Getting your Kids to Listen

When you ask your child to do something do you they jump up and respond immediately? Well if they do then great job! However most parents will answer along the lines of “no, it’s like pulling teeth to get my child to respond” or “I find that everything just is a battle”. Here are 5 tips that will help you talk to your child and get the response you desire:

  1. Make sure you definitely have their attention.
  2. Engage eye contact – bend down to their level if necessary.
  3. Keep your request brief.
  4. Keep your request simple.
  5. Be positive – for example, instead of saying “don’t run”, try “please walk”.

It is important to remember the way we talk to our children teaches them how ro talk to others.
