Baking Sugar Cookies at Christmastime
One of my favorite traditions in the busy Christmas season is baking sugar cookies with my daughter. It is a great time to bond, spend quality time together and just enjoy the festive season.
Here is a simple recipe that we use, and we wanted to share with you too.
- 1 1/2 cups of butter
- 2 cups of white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and chill for at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 C) Roll out the dough. Cut into shapes. Place the cookies one inch apart on cookie pan. Bake 6-8 minutes. Cool completely, then decorate.
